Why
use a K2 Approved Installer?
The K2 Approved Installer
Scheme has been developed with one ultimate aim
- to protect you, the consumer.
In order to gain a place on the scheme, participating
companies have to go through a detailed and rigorous
vetting process. As part of this, K2 in conjunction
with the FMB check everything - from the company's
trading history and terms of conduct to their
levels of quality, integrity and professionalism.
We even seek a number of references and subject
members to random, on-the-spot inspections.
Only when we are 100% confident that they can
meet and abide by the strict standards set out
are these companies awarded the K2 seal of approval.
A seal of approval that serves to give you total
peace of mind.
The
Federation of Master Builders
Across the building and construction related
industries, the Federation of Master Builders
is a name that represents quality. Formed over
60 years ago and now firmly established as one
of the UK's most respected trade organisations,
the FMB promotes excellence - and as such, all
of its 13,000 members (consisting mainly of small
to medium sized building firms) agree to abide
by strict codes of practice. Considering this,
and the FMB's experience and standing, there was
no better partner to help develop K2's Approved
Installer Scheme.

The
K2 Approved Installer Code of Conduct
Every K2 Approved Installer
has agreed to abide by a strict code of
conduct:
|
Before
work begins:
A K2 Approved Installer will try to ensure that
the customer has all the professional advice needed
on the project if it is large or complex. This
may include professional advice from architects,
surveyors or other professionals.
1. A K2 Approved Installer will provide an insurance
backed warranty with every installation.
2. A K2 Approved Installer will never quote on
a project for which they have insufficient time
or are otherwise unsuited to undertake.
3. A K2 Approved Installer will make sure that
they have sufficient insurance cover for the contract.
4. A K2 Approved Installer will always provide
a written quotation for your job which will state
the following:
1. the price.
2. what is and isn't included in the price.
3. what form of agreement will be used (for example,
Plain English Contracts which are clear and unambiguous).
4. how long the job will take.
5. when the work can start.
6. details of the insurance backed warranty.
7. payment terms.
Whilst
work is in progress:
1. A K2 Approved Installer will proceed with
the work according to the agreement with the customer
and give regular briefings on progress.
2. If there are unavoidable problems or delays,
the customer will be informed of these as early
as possible.
3. A K2 Approved Installer will offer the customer
samples of all materials and fittings for prior
approval.
4. If there are changes to the work specified
or extra costs, these will be confirmed in writing
and agreed with the customer before such work
begins.
5. A K2 Approved Installer and his employees
will at all times treat the customer and their
property with respect and ensure that the working
site remains a safe and healthy environment.
When
the work is complete
1. A K2 Approved Installer will leave the site
clean and tidy and ready for use.
2. Any relevant operating instructions and guarantees
will be handed over to the customer, along with
a proper briefing on any relevant maintenance
or operating issues.
3. A date will be arranged for the K2 Approved
Installer to return and deal with any defects
which may have arisen during the first few months.
